The Huawei P40 Lite bears little resemblance to the high-end P40 Pro models, but it’s still a top performer in the budget price category.
Both its Kirin 810 processor and its five camera set-up beat all competitors in this shootout. Build quality was also superb. The sturdy metal frame houses a recessed power button, which does double duty as a fingerprint sensor for convenient unlocking. It has the most powerful processor of any budget phone we’ve tested and a whopping 6 GB of RAM to keep things flying. However, set-up is made a good deal more complicated by the absence of Google’s Play Store, which means you’ll have to track down and hack some of your key apps into working properly, which can be exhausting.
6.4” screen, 6 GB RAM, 16 MP front/48 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP rear cameras, 128 GB storage, 4 200 MAh battery, R6 500
