The Watch GT is the smartwatch that finally worked for us. It provides the right balance of interplay with the phone, presenting messages, appointments and weather, and foregrounding the right amount of health information – heart rate, step count and reminders to move.
Most importantly, it has almost seven days of battery life compared to just one day in most other watches thanks to the dual-chip design which allows it to idle economically, then gear up when required. It doesn’t try to do too much, probably because it’s not running the Android Wear OS, but it tracks the right activities, from swimming to mountain walks. It’s built tough and looks great around the office.
Ceramic and stainless steel, 1.39″ AMOLED screen, step/sleep/heart, GPS, Bluetooth, R4 000
We especially enjoyed the choice of watch faces on offer.
