Over time, Excel spreadsheets can become monstrously large and difficult to open, edit and share.
There’s a simple way to manage this. Save your file with a .xlsb extension, instead of the usual .xlsx one. This forces the Excel workbook into a more basic binary format, which can reduce the file size by up to 75%. One downside is that it may not be viewable on other programs, although it will always work in Excel. We also strongly recommend you make a backup of your original Excel file before experimenting.
