Windows 10 has a built-in screen recorder that’s designed primarily to capture footage of your video games, but can easily be duped into filming ordinary desktop operations.
To use it, you first need to activate it. Click the Windows Icon in the lower left corner and open Settings. Now click Gaming and then Game Bar on the left-hand side. The key combination to open the Game Bar is displayed on the right-hand side. By default, this is Win+G.
You can now call up the Game Bar any time you want to make a video of your screen by tapping this key combination. A control panel opens, allowing you to take a screenshot or to start recording. Click Start Recording or tap Win+Alt+R to start and to stop when you’ve finished. Recorded videos will be saved in your Videos/Capture folder in MP4 format. Unfortunately, not all Windows 10 devices can record footage.
